Preventing AcneWith all the different ways to prevent acne out there, sometimes it can quickly become an expensive ordeal for some people.  Adding up things like facials and skin scrubs, special water based cosmetic products, doctor’s visits, and at times even prescriptions. It can be pretty overwhelming and quite a hit to your wallet, but preventing acne doesn’t have to be so stressful and costly.

There are several cheap (and in this case even free) methods you can you employ that will help prevent acne breakouts. Let’s take a look at a few of them.

1. Drink Water

The first, and by far simplest thing you can do to help prevent acne is drink water. When it comes down to it, acne is a skin disease, and staying hydrated is one of the most important parts of making sure your body can fight off any disease.  The best way to stay hydrated, of course, is to drink water. Drinks high in sugar have an opposite effect, causing dehydration and thus increase your chances of having an acne outbreak.  The best way to maintaining a regular schedule with something like this is to try keeping a water bottle with you throughout the day and drinking water with meals. Drinking real fruit juices is a great alternative as well. Not only do they keep you hydrated but you also provide yourself with important vitamins and nutrients that help your immune system.

2. A Healthy Diet

Your diet can have a huge impact on your chances of having an acne outbreak. There are several foods to avoid when worrying about acne. One of the main foods to avoid is anything high in sugar. Candy and soda are two of the main sources of sugar that you’ll need to avoid. Not only is soda generally high in sugar, it’s also usually high in caffeine, which is something else you’ll want to avoid to help your chances with preventing acne. Along with sugar and caffeine, other foods to avoid are dairy products, egg products (specifically egg yolks), processed foods (packaged cakes, cookies, chips), and fatty foods such as bacon and burgers.

 3. Washing

If you can’t afford to buy daily use facial scrubs and other skin products to help fight acne, the best alternative is simply washing your skin consistently. As what causes acne is an excess buildup of oil and dead skin cells, simply rinsing off your skin will help. Use cool water once or twice a day, usually in the morning when you wake up and in the evening before going to sleep. Sticking to once or twice a day is the key, as washing more often than this can actually have the opposite effect on your skin. Washing your skin too often good cause it to become dried out, increasing your chances of an outbreak.

4. Stress

High levels of stress have been known to cause acne outbreaks and make existing acne even worse. The first step is understanding what it is that’s causing you stress and then finding effective ways of dealing with it before an outbreak occurs. If you find yourself getting stressed out throughout the day, try taking a few minutes to close your eyes and relax before taking on the situation. Dealing with acne doesn’t have to be a costly ordeal. Knowing how to deal with it before it occurs can be easy if you know what you’re doing. Staying hydrated, eating right, having a healthy diet, and staying relaxed can make a huge difference in whether or not you experience acne outbreaks.
