What Causes Acne BreakoutsNo one likes acne – it is very unattractive and annoying, and can lower your self-esteem. Beautiful skin is hard to maintain when you are faced with occasional acne problems. You can use the best anti-aging creams, but it won’t solve your constant breakouts. There are many things that can cause pimples or acne to surface. With just a few simple tips and knowing what causes these breakouts you could end your skin problem.

Causes of acne breakouts

1. Many may not know this but sweating is just one of the causes of breakouts. However, sweating does not necessarily mean you will get acne. When you sweat your pores tend to clog up, bacteria builds and there go the nasty pimples or acne. The sweat can worsen with those who have preexisting acne. Washing your face will keep it clean but it won’t stop the bumps from occurring. To prevent acne or to slow down the breakouts, it is best to use a deep facial cleanser.

2. Stress can make acne worse says Lisa A. Garner, MD, FAAD, a clinical professor of dermatology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. “If you already have acne and you happen to get in a stressful situation, your acne really flares up.” So, in other words, stress won’t set off a new case of acne, but will make it more serious if you have this skin disorder.

3. Sometimes PMS has something to do with breakouts. Hormones go crazy during your cycle and make you crave certain foods which could aggravate your acne. PMS causes cramps, bloating, mood swings and occasional acne problems. It is always best to practice a good skin regimen, even if you are suffering from PMS, to avoid acne breakouts.

4. Heredity is another reason for bad skin, but there are acne treatments out there for all types of facial acne. Inflammation is just one culprit of your skin problems; if you’ve tried everything, then you might need to see your dermatologist to decide what process and treatment would work best to clear your skin.

5. If you suffer from forehead acne it could be your hair. Your hair has lots of oils and moisture in it. Wearing a hairband will add oil to your forehead, clog pores, and can cause pimples. Try changing your hairstyle every so often to avoid acne breakouts on your forehead.

6. Dirty pillowcases contain saliva that is full of bacteria. When you lay your face on it, it gets on the skin and causes bacteria to grow onto the skin. So, if you drool a lot while you sleep, it is best to change your pillowcases daily.

7. Last but not least, makeup will worsen acne by clogging pores and causing more acne breakouts. Most makeup contains oils which clogs pores and create even more skin problems. It is important to use a foundation formulated without using comedogenic ingredients. These oil-free foundations can be used without causing more acne to erupt.

By following a good skin regimen consisting of cleansing, exfoliating, toning and moisturizing you can prevent further breakouts and flare-ups of acne. It is best to find the appropriate skin care products that would work well with your skin type.
